About This Blog and About Me

Hello!  If you are reading this then you are wondering what sort of blog you have stumbled across.  Well, in a sense this is both a resource for those wanting to learn more about wildlife news and an experiment for myself.  I think I should tell a little about myself first.

My name is Riley Schwengel and I currently live in the United States where I am pursuing a career in environmental protection.  I studied Animal Behavior at Bucknell University and have always found the worlds of biology, animal science, ecology, and environmental science incredibly interesting.  However, I have found that only those involved in natural science, either as a job or in education, are able to follow the interesting developments in these fields.  I think the reason for this is an underrepresentation of scientists in the media and that scientific writing can be extremely technical and boring to read.

Thus I have started this blog, which has the primary purpose of taking news and information from the aforementioned fields and spreading them to anyone interested.  I will write on subjects that I personally find fascinating and digest them for the average reader.  I am especially excited to write about Animal Behavior as there is a ton of studies and developments that never get their due media attention.

The secondary purpose of this blog is to build upon my writing technique.  I have always enjoyed writing and hope to maybe turn it into a career, but to make that happen I have to practice.  So by updating this blog on a regular basis, I hope to develop as a writer and one day have an article published by a legitimate source.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for some articles about the wild world around us!
